Based on current knowledge, for the first time, histories have been recorded about the impact of African American culture in East Anglia during the Cold War.

 

The US Air Force (USAF) had numerous bases in the region between the late 1940s-1990s. While Americans from diverse backgrounds lived here, Black USAF focuses on undocumented history of how Black American personnel shared their culture with Black Caribbean, South Asian and white British people. This community broke down racial barriers, creating unique experiences which still resonate today.
